The villa stands above the road behind a white wall, screened by strelitzia, palms and cycads, with the Twelve Apostles filling the sky behind. From the top terrace a stainless cable balustrade frames the drop over the pool to the Atlantic.
The pool is long and rectangular, paved on all sides, with grey loungers in a row and a reed screen taking the edge off the wind. There is a cast-iron bench, aloes in pots and a shaded loggia holding a slatted timber lounger. Off to one side sits a walled courtyard with a beanbag lounger, quiet even when the pool is busy. After dark the terrace lights come on and the water glows.
The first sits under a raked ceiling with white beams and exposed brick columns, a cream leather corner sofa facing sliding glass that opens the whole wall to the view. The second is built around a brick chimney breast with a wood-burning stove, dark leather sofas and armchairs pulled in close for cooler evenings. The kitchen is a long L of dark cabinetry with stainless worktops, an integrated oven and a breakfast bar, and a round brick-framed porthole window that is a small piece of character in its own right.
The main room has a vaulted boarded ceiling, a stone-clad wall behind the bed and an open en-suite with twin basins and a glass shower; sliding doors put you on the pool terrace in two steps. A second bedroom opens through French doors onto a stone-walled garden of its own. Every room is air-conditioned.
