Short version: two of the 21 villas on this site work differently, and the difference matters to you.
Camps Bay Sunsets Villa belongs to our family. When you enquire through the form on that page, the message goes straight to the owner. There is no agency, no platform fee and no affiliate commission — not to us, not to anyone. That is why you will not find a Booking.com button on that page.
We do not own, manage or represent the other villas listed here. Each one has its own page on this site, and on that page the “Check availability” button links to Booking.com through Commission Junction, an affiliate network. Nothing on the homepage links to Booking.com — the cards there go to our own villa pages. If you book after following one of those affiliate links, Booking.com pays us a small commission out of their own margin.
It costs you nothing extra. You pay Booking.com's normal rate; our commission comes out of their side, not yours. Following the link and not booking costs you nothing either.
A single banner saying “we earn a commission on every booking” would be false for our own villa, and a site that is loose with that claim is loose with others. So every booking button on this site carries its own label, right next to the button: affiliate, or direct.
Camps Bay Sunsets Villa, the villa we have a stake in, is listed first and carries a “book direct with the owner” label on its card and its own page, so you can always tell it apart from the affiliate listings. The rest are ordered by guest rating and review count from their Booking.com listings. Commission rates are identical across every property, so nothing here is ordered by what pays us more.
Where a rating appears, it is the guest score from that villa's Booking.com listing, shown with the number of reviews behind it so you can judge how much weight it carries. A villa with one review shows one review. Villas with no reviews yet show no score at all.
